Dear Friends and Supporters,
From Voyager 1 to the Viet Keychord™: Why I Walked Away from an Aviation Career for a Linguistic Mission?
While completing my Master’s degree at Embry-Riddle as a US Air Force Veteran, I worked part-time as an English to Vietnamese translator to cover my tuition. That’s when a profound irony hit me.
As a species, we built rockets, spacecraft, and the Voyager Golden Records. We sent pictures, music, and greetings in 55 languages, including a "Hello" in Vietnamese, to potential intelligent life in deep space. Yet, back here on Earth, a dedicated, physical keyboard optimized for the Vietnamese language simply did not exist.
Two Steps Forward, One Step Back
Day after day, I was forced to use inefficient Telex software, pressing multiple keys just to input a single native character. It felt like taking two steps forward and one step back, a massive drain on human productivity, time, and energy.
After two years of fighting against standard hardware, a passion began to brew. Why not build the solution myself and start a movement?
On my birthday, I officially launched Ablenaut. After graduation, I rejected a stable Airport Operations role at Philadelphia International Airport to go completely all in.
